Dear Ms Vučićević, Thank you very much for your message and for sharing the memorandum of the Association of Journalists of Serbia. I was deeply concerned to read about the recent incidents of violence and intimidation directed against journalists and media professionals in Serbia. Freedom of the press and the safety of journalists are indispensable pillars of democracy. Any form of harassment, physical assault, or stigmatization of media representatives is unacceptable. Journalists must be able to carry out their essential work of informing the public without fear of violence or reprisal. Please be assured that your appeal has been duly noted. I will continue to follow the situation closely and remain committed, together with my colleagues in the European Parliament, to supporting media freedom and the protection of journalists in Serbia and across the wider region. I thank you for reaching out and for the important work of your Association in defending press freedom under challenging circumstances.
